As an automotive photographer and owner of multiple classic vehicles, I attend more car shows than the average person. I see a LOT of varying types of display styles. Some cars pull up, park, and they are set for the day, while others take a different approach, and are rather elaborate with their display. I know when I am displaying my Volkswagen Westfalia, I have a lot of camping stuff to unpack and set up, and it takes some time.
This got me thinking, what does an average show attendee like seeing when they are walking around a car show? So, naturally, I took to the internet, and I asked! I posted a series of questions on my own page, and in car related Facebook groups, and recorded the answers.
Here are the questions I asked:
“What is your favorite accessory or display item on your car?”
“What do you dislike seeing as an accessory or display item at a car show?”
These questions were posed a week apart.
As you might imagine, the answers I received ranged from interesting to funny. Some were downright heated! Here are the results of my admittedly unscientific poll:
These represent the top answers only, there were a lot more which were mentioned once or twice. Some folks said their Co-pilot or Wife was their best accessory, which is very sweet. The most mentioned dislike was by far the hiding/crying doll; the people who responded to this poll really do not like those!
Is your favorite accessory on the ‘Like’ list? Are you guilty of something on the ‘Dislike’ list? What would you have added? Drop a comment to add your thoughts.
Here’s a couple photos of my 1977 Westfalia with the accessories I show…warning, it’s a lot! ;)
