I cover a lot of car shows…I mean a LOT of car shows. When I post my photos afterward, there seems to be one constant: someone comments on the album, usually in an upset manner, saying I missed their car.
For example, at the El Prado show there were almost TWO THOUSAND cars, and a person said “You didn’t get a photo of my _____!” Really? Come on. Am I supposed to take a photo of every single car at every single event I attend? Let me tell you, I’ve done that before, and it’s zero fun.
Taking the photos is one thing, at a smaller show maybe it’s not such a big deal (even then it can be tedious), but there is also all the back-end work of post-process editing that you don’t see. Every single shot needs to be touched multiple times before it gets posted online. That takes a ton of time all by itself.
I would much rather take fewer photos at an event, and have them be higher QUALITY, than just cranking out ‘run of the mill’ snapshots of every car in attendance.
Also, not every shot turns out right. I’m not perfect, no photographer is. I miss focus sometimes, or my exposure is off and it kills the shot and makes it not ‘post-able’. Hey, It happens – if anyone says it doesn’t happen to them, they’re lying.
So, yeah, I might miss this car or that car or even your car at the show. Please try not to take it personally. I’m out here doing my best to represent the event through my eyes with what I was able to capture on the day. If you see me walking around at the show, ask me to take a few shots of your ride, I’ll be happy to do it! That way you know you’re covered!
Thanks
Are you ready? I'm ready.
